Membership

Why was I invited to join Amplify AAPI?

Too often, the voices of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders go unheard in the U.S.

You deserve to have your voice heard and your opinions counted by government officials, community leaders, the media and more. Amplify AAPI is the first-of-its-kind opinion panel scientifically designed to represent your communities.

What do I do as a member?

As an Amplify AAPI member, you’ll answer surveys online and receive points for each survey you complete.

After you complete your first survey, we’ll email you when another survey is ready. If the internet is unavailable to you, we will call you. Most surveys take about 10 minutes.

Why should I join?

Too often, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders are left out of conversations and overlooked in policies and services.

We need your voice specifically. Because we use a scientific process to select addresses, you cannot be replaced with another household. Your participation is critical to representing the needs of your communities.

What are the surveys used for?

Through Amplify AAPI, you can make your needs and opinions heard. Business leaders, policymakers, and nonprofit groups use the results of Amplify AAPI surveys to make decisions.

There are no right or wrong answers, and your privacy and confidentiality are protected. You control your personal information. We’ll never share information to third parties without your permission.

How was I selected?

We use a two-step scientific process to ensure representation from a diverse array of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in the U.S.

Your address and household was one of the few selected. This random selection means that those who were chosen represent communities of different ages, regions, employment statuses, and education levels.

I am on a “Do Not Call” list. Why are you calling me?

Amplify AAPI can call phone numbers in the “Do Not Call” list because we are not telemarketers. We will never ask you to purchase a product or make a donation.

NORC at the University of Chicago, our parent organization, is a nonprofit opinion research organization with a mission to promote public interests. For more than 80 years, NORC has conducted numerous landmark opinion research studies that have been used as sources of information in many decision making processes, including state and national policies.

Can my friends and family join Amplify AAPI?

Any Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander adult living in the same household can join Amplify AAPI.

Part of what makes Amplify AAPI so unique and credible is how we select members. Significant resources are dedicated to making sure we have a panel which is truly representative of the U.S. population. When we ask for the contact information of others living in the home, it is because we would like to send them an invitation to participate also.

Your friends or family members who do not reside in your household are generally not eligible, unless we select their household address through a scientific process.

About the Surveys

What are the surveys about?

The first few surveys cover demographics, like age, gender, marital status, health, or civic participation. Other surveys will cover news events, trends, policies, healthcare, education, and technology.

How long do surveys take?

Surveys usually take about 10 minutes to complete. You will receive points for completing surveys. If the surveys are longer, you’ll receive more rewards.

How often will you contact me?

About 1 to 4 times per month, we’ll invite you to take a new survey.

Who asks Amplify AAPI to conduct these surveys?

Our clients include The Associated Press, Consumer Reports, AARP, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and many more.

Protecting Your Privacy

What kind of information do you collect about me?

In your first few surveys, we’ll ask for your name, address, and contact information. We also will ask for some demographic details, such as your age, ethnicity, and level of education.

Your responses to these questions will help us send you surveys that match you. We ask for information about other members of your household so that we can invite them to join Amplify AAPI.

Our surveys then will collect information about your opinions and values, like your thoughts on social issues, your perceptions of health and well-being, or your experiences with a certain product category.

We will never ask for your social security number, driver’s license number or your bank account number.

How do you use my personal information?

We at NORC deeply value your trust. We use your personal information to let you know of new surveys, to send your rewards, or to update you about Amplify AAPI. We will never share your personal information with our clients unless you give us explicit permission. We will not use your personal identifying information to sell or market goods or services to you. Review our Privacy Policy for more details about how we use information you share with us.

How do you protect my information and survey responses?

The security of your personal information and survey response data are essential to our success and credibility at Amplify AAPI and NORC. Over our 80 years of conducting social and policy research for U.S. federal agencies, state governments, and foundations, we have established security measures, including encryption methods and access protocols, to help protect the security and confidentiality of personal data.

We protect the identities of our Amplify AAPI members by using tools and methods to make sure that no reasonable possibility exists of identifying an individual person in our reports and the reports prepared by our clients. We deliver only anonymized information (no personally identifying information) to our clients. We group your responses with the responses of many others to produce our statistical and client report

Receiving Rewards

How do I get rewards?

You will receive points for completing surveys. You will have the option to redeem your points for Mastercard® Reward Cards, a variety of virtual gift cards for retailers such as Amazon.com, Apple, Starbucks, and more! 1,000 points = $1. YOU GET THE POINTS THEN YOU REDEEM THEM FOR THE REWARD OF YOUR CHOICE.

After you complete your first survey, you will receive at least 25,000 points. That is the same as $25. You will receive additional points for each survey you take. Some surveys will give you more points than others because we might ask you to respond quickly or the survey might take longer than usual to complete. You can get up to 5,000 points ($5) or more, for each survey you complete.

How do I redeem my rewards?

You can redeem your points whenever you want by signing in to your Amplify AAPI Member Portal or by calling the dedicated Amplify AAPI Support Team during its hours of operation. You will need to accrue at least 10,000 points before being able to redeem for a reward.

Why are my rewards given in points?

With points, you can choose what product you want or when to get your reward prior to the point expiration date. For example, you can redeem your points now or wait until the next holiday.

Points are redeemable for Mastercard® Rewards Cards, Amazon.com gift cards or retail gift cards. For Mastercard® Rewards Cards, you can choose to have the points mailed to you or receive them right away as online codes.

Do my rewards expire?

Yes, points expire two years after they are awarded to you.
